December Author Interview #11--Ally Blue

My guest today was one of the first m/m romance authors I ever read and she's written one of my favorite rockstar books.  Please welcome the fabulous Ally Blue to my blog. Thanks for being here, Ally. (*tries not to squee*)

1. How about we start with some basic information – tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up? What kind of student were you? What were your favorite activities? Anything you want to share is fine.

Hi K-Lee! It’s a pleasure to be here, thanks for having me :)

I grew up in the Heart of Dixie--Mobile, Alabama. Being a lifelong nerd, I was an excellent student. This will be hard for you to believe, since you’ve seen my feeble attempts at crutch-dancing, LOL, but I was a devoted dance student from early childhood all the way through my senior year in high school. Tap, jazz, ballet, even three years suffering through three hour pointe classes three days a week after school. Yeah, a ballerina I am not, but I loved dancing anyway. Other than that, my favorite activities were listening to music and reading.

Christian Kane pick-me-up (or Christian Kane pic spam #3)

Just some cuteness for the day - it is the holidays after all. Everyone needs some cheer. :)
**Edit - as usual this became obsessive and way longer than expected -
sorry about that... um... no, I'm not. Happy Holidays!

LOL. Brave soul. You actually want to hear about my insanity.
Where did you grow up? I really did grow up all over the country… mostly in Upper Michigan after third grade though… in the UP… which makes me what? Not everyone knows about Yoopers. LOL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-ZvAVcBIrQ

December Author Interview/Give-away #6 - Xara X. Xanakas

Special treat today – my blog guest is a feisty Texan with a reputation to be a sexy, snarky, and snaky lady, (lol) plus she's also a very good friend. Welcome Xara X. Xanakas. Thanks for being here, Xara. J

1. How about we start with some basic information – tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up? What kind of student were you? What were your favorite activities? Anything you want to share is fine. J

I'm just down here in Texas, trying to do my part from deep in the heart. I was born in Texas and raised here by a wild pack of transplanted Chicagoans. Just an average student, hanging around the edges of everything. I wasn't "in" with any one crowd, but got along with all the different groups.

Eliot Spencer does sports Part 2 (Christian Kane - hockey)

The Blue Line Job
(season 5)
For Trix ;)

Sophie: You watch hockey fights alone, at night, in your room?
Eliot:  Yeah.  You never know if you’re going to have to fight a guy on ice.

Eliot Spencer does sports Part 1 (Christian Kane)

Pics from Leverage and Christian Kane (of course) focusing on The Three Strikes Job (season 2) and The Blue Line Job (season 5). Eliot always merges into his roles so perfectly and always with more than a little grumbling and grouching - just makes him even more awesome. TRIX actually requested pics from the Blue Line Job because the damn NHL strike still holds hockey hostage and that will be in the next post since this one got a little big. ;)

I'm hoping for a football episode but since the fate of season 6 is still up in the air and not looking hopeful, it probably won't happen. That will make me a very sad K-lee. But Eliot will never be forgotten that's for damn sure. ;)

THE THREE STRIKES JOB

December Author Interview/give-away #4 - Sasha L. Miller

My guest today is a friend who I finally got to meet in both Long Beach and Albuquerque this year & we shared a fabulous tattoo experience together – sort of. Please welcome Sasha L. Miller to my blog. Thanks for being here, Sasha. J

1. First off – how's your tattoo doing? Are you still babying it like me? ;)

It's doing well! I'm not babying it so much, but it's still the most moisturized my leg has been ever. ;3 For the curious, it's a lovely cherry blossom branch on my lower leg, same place as K-lee's angel (possibly the same leg, too, but my lefts and rights have never been all that great).

December Author Interview/Give-away #3 - Terry Milien

My guest today is a fabulous author, editor, and translator who I very much enjoy talking to on Twitter. Please welcome Terry Milien to my blog. Thanks for being here, Terry. J

Thank you for having me in the first place! ^_^ Hi everyone!

1. How about we start with some basic information – tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up? What kind of student were you? What were your favorite activities? Anything you want to share is fine. J

Sure! Well, I’m Terry, I grew up in Belgium, not far from the north border of France. I always was on the lazy side of things, studies included. BUT I also have excellent auditory memory so I didn’t actually need to study to get good grades, which infuriated most of the people who knew about it. :3 The only class I had terrible grades was PE—sports are the bane of my existence, I’m so clumsy and uncoordinated it's not funny. Reading has been a big part of my life since I was 11, when I opened Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer’s for US peeps) for the first time. People kept giving me the weird look ’cause I always dragged at least one book around.

Dec. Author Interview/Give-away #2 - TARA LAIN

My guest on my blog today is one of the sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet – the lovely Tara Lain. Tara has a new release in her Balls to the Wall series, "Snow Balls", on December 7th. Welcome Tara and thank you for being here.

1. How about we start with some basic information – tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up? What kind of student were you? What was your favorite activity when you were growing up? Anything you want to share is fine.

First, thank you for that wonderful welcome! I’m so delighted to be here. So, about me. I’m an Army brat so I grew up all over. I lived in Europe and Japan as well as in several places in the US before I was in high school. I call Washington, D.C. home even though I wasn’t born there because my grandparents were there and we came back there after travels. I also went to college there. I studied theater but ended up in marketing which is still my day job. I own a small ad/pr firm. As an adult, I have kept up the traveling and have been all over the world, mostly with my wonderful husband to whom I’ve been married for 31 years. I live in Laguna Beach, California where I set many of my books including the entire Balls to the Wall series.

Christian Kane pic spam #2 - you knew it would happen, right?

First off - here's a cover of the song Fast Car by Tracy Chapman that Christian released on his The House Rules album. The original was released in 1988 - yeah, I remember it - and I never could have put a country singer at the mic but he does a damn good job. I had this version on repeat for a while on Sunday - it helped my anxiety believe it or not. :) (the audio's a little less than stellar on the vid but definitely passable)

Bandana porn and such a beautiful lost-in-the-song expression.

December Author interview #1 - ZACH SWEETS

The first guest for my Author Interviews 2012 is someone I consider a very good friend and I hung out with a lot at GRL this year (he and his fabulous partner, Neal) Zach Sweets is in the house! Thanks for being here, Zach. J

1. How about we start with some basic information – tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up? What kind of student were you? What were your favorite activities? Where did you meet your partner? Anything you want to share is fine. J

Well, I was an army brat and I’ve moved pretty often before I finally settled in Arizona. I was born in El Paso, Texas. I moved to North Carolina briefly because that was where my entire family lived. After North Carolina, we moved to Germany for a couple of years then I moved back to USA to Kansas. I lived in Kansas from 1995 to 2001 before moving to California and graduated at a high school in 2005. After graduating from high school, I went to Gallaudet University in Washington, DC for two years and transferred to University of Baltimore to finish my degree. I graduated from University of Baltimore in 2010 and stayed in Maryland for a couple of months before my partner and I decided to move to Arizona.

What kind student I was? LOL Definitely the quietest one. I was the one that sat way back in the room. A laidback type as well. Hated to study and had a bad habit of doing everything at the last minutes. My favorite activities are running, designing random stuff on computer, coding the websites, writing, and reading. Of course spending my time with my awesome lover.

William Neale Christmas interview repost...because I miss him.

This is a repost of my interview with William Neale last year.
We lost Bill this year but he's still very much in my heart
and I definitely missed him and his sweet presence at GRL.
I wanted to pay a little tribute to how awesome he was
so if you didn't read it last year, take a look.
I hope you enjoy William's words and if you haven't already done so
take some time to read one of his books, you won't be disappointed.
(there's no give-away, I've just posted it AS IS)

December is Author Month on my blog...

Yes - yes, it is.
I have some awesome authors stopping by to be
grilled during December, much as I did last year.
I don't have a schedule yet and not sure I will
- it's more of a first come, first serviced thing.
Some authors will be doing give-aways so you need to tune in.

Insomnia, a review, random news & music

Not sleeping more than 3 or 4 hrs a night (with sleeping pills) is taking its toll but I'm pressing on to stay productive. I've been dealing with sleep issues for 10 years so it's really nothing new, just a little worse than usual right now. Recently I've been trying to set a goal every day since that at least makes me feel productive. My goal for today is to get to 60k on my cowboys - 2300 written so far and 300 to go and Christian Kane's drawling away on iTunes, offering his usual inspiration. ;)
Happy Insomniac Thursday. ;/

In the good news department, I received a really awesome 5/5 star review for Domestic Relations a couple weeks ago that I thought I'd share. DR hasn't gotten many reviews yet so this one made my day. :) And I swear I don't often post the entire review but today, I'm going to make an exception because it makes me smile and sleepy smiles are always a good thing.

Christian Kane pic spam #1 - you were warned

As promised and more for myself than anyone else... Christian Kane pic spam. Enjoy. :)
(and yep, there will be more)

Blog Update Fail, Christian Kane & an excerpt

<--- Yeah, what he said? Can't believe it's almost a month since I've updated but it seems like the longer I leave it the bigger the issue of updating gets in my head. It ends up being this really overwhelming thing that it totally shouldn't be. It's just an issue I have that I obviously need to work on.

*takes deep breath* Okay. Hey! How you doing? I'm back and hopefully will stay that way. Actually I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of action on this blog once December rolls around since I have something up my proverbial sleeve. But I won't share that just yet.

Halloween Give-away & Survivor love

I'm having a streak of writers' block and it's making me crazy. I still have to post about GRL but the words just aren't there either so I've been catching up on the shows I taped while I was gone.

I don't think it's any big secret that I'm a reality show junkie - from So You Think You Can Dance to Hell's Kitchen to Big Brother - I like them all but I think my first fave was and still is Survivor. Hello, my name is K-lee and i'm a Survivor-aholic.

I've been watching from the very first season which has spanned 12 years and 25 seasons. I've always had a favourite player of course and yeah, they've always been dudes and a lot of the time, probably hot dudes - okay almost all the time, in my opinion. But I don't intentionally search for the babe in the show each season - it just naturally happens. ;)

So in between organizing my WIPs, deleting emails and generally getting frustrated that Ali is not speaking to me at the moment - he can be such a bitch - I decided to share my fave player in each season.

~~EDIT - AFTER THE FACT~~
Wow, that was more work than I thought over two days but believe it or not, it sparked some creativity and I've managed to write a little here and there. Goes to show that sometimes trying too hard is exactly what hinders the whole process - any process really. It also shows that my brain needs something to do when it seems to be running on empty and searching for lovely boys is a very good way to challenge it. I hope you enjoy my little trip down Survivor memory lane.

And now that my brain is firing on a few more cylinders than it has been for the past week, I'm going to do a give-away. Leave your name, email address and a nice little comment for a chance to win an ebook copy Trick of Dreams which comes out on Halloween.

Blurb
Misha hates Halloween. Nothing good has ever come of it even though it was the day he was born. He spends his days at a thankless job and fills his nights turning tricks. His only reprieves from his miserable life are his best friend and the alluring dreams that come to him night after night.

On his first Halloween as a free man, a string of strange occurrences only firm up his position on the dreaded day. But the kindness of a stranger and a gift from his best friend send Misha's mind reeling with flashes of his dreams and what was once unrecognizable suddenly becomes a little more familiar.

***

Now on to my Survivor faves

Season 25 - Philippines
Malcolm Freberg
Flowing hair, cute smile, sense of humour and so hot.
From 18 to 11 people down and he's still around - keeping my fingers crossed.

Family of Misfits Character Collector Cards

I've been dying to share my character cards with everyone that didn't go to GRL and since it's over, here they are. :) My fabulous friend, writer and graphic designer - L.C. Chase - made them for me - she's also the one who did the cover for Lucius' Bite and will do the rest of the series too. And if you ask her what kind of client I am I'm sure she'll say a very picky, anal retentive, perfectionist one. ;) And I totally am.

It took me a long time to find the right faces to go with my characters - would be so much easier if we could pick just any old picture off the net and use it how we see fit. But since that's definitely not the case, I scoured the photo sites looking for just the right boys and I think I've found them. Ali and Nicu were the toughest and poor L.C. had to try to Ali-up my witch's hair. Manny will be my next searching task. You'll notice Kalo doesn't have a bio because he's still a bit of a mystery but his card has a teaser for the next book in the series, tentatively called Ali's Intuition. Hope you like. :)
(PS I have lots leftover if anyone would like a set)

Release Day for PRIVATE DICKS: UNDERCOVERS (2 days late)

It's release day!!! Okay, so I'm a couple days late but I did know when it went live even if I didn't advertise it. Lol. Well, I probably did on twitter and facebook but this poor blog always gets last dibs.

I also swear I will get my GRL thoughts blogged soon - still a little overwhelmed at getting home and settling back into life. Need to get my pink wipe-off board back into use so I can can myself organized since right now I'm flailing around like a chicken with my head cut off.

I will pick the winner in the "Not Going to GRL" contest next week since I have to wait for my lovely friends to ship my books and leftover swag from GRL. Soon, my people, soon.

But anyhow - the PRIVATE DICKS: UNDERCOVERS anthology featuring my story "The P.I. & the Rockstar" is finally out. I've seen the rough version of the print copy too, and it's fabulous.

Hugs.

Cat crisis, Comfort zones, Cosmic Avengers & Crazy week

Good day. Despite the lovely cookie monster over there <-- this post isn't about cookies or pretty monsters.

Cat Crisis - We had a cat crisis in our house last week of epic proportions - to put it honestly, we thought Miss Henri was on her deathbed because of the way she was acting.

It was so close to how our dog Willow had acted last year when he think she had a stroke - Willow had to be put to sleep three days after we noticed the change. In that period of time she went blind, couldn't walk, couldn't control her bladder and lots of seizures. We said goodbye to her on Good Friday last year.
Henri was luckier. She hadn't had a seizure and she wasn't dying - but she was very sick.

After two trips to the vets and one to the emergency animal hospital, it was discovered she had a very large abscess on her anal gland (TMI) and it had ruptured in two places. She had fever and infection and was lethargic and like one big wet noodle when we picked her up. They did surgery and she came home four hours later with a lovely cone on her head.

She didn't seem to be improving that much in the first couple of days but then she started not hiding as much and being a little bossy. Last night we took the cone off her head and she's almost back to her good old self.  It was a scary time and being that my depression is kicking my ass right now, it make it all the more emotional and frightening. Sometimes I think we forget how important our furry family is to us.

Sunday with Guns N' Roses & Blind Melon...

This weekend has been a mesh of side effects of a med increase, struggling at doing some writing and resurrecting the 80s/early90s chick in me. Guns N' Roses has helped me do the latter and despite the strangeness (stranger than normal) that became Axl Rose, I still love the band, the music, his awesome voice, his plaid shirts and his wiggly hips.
I'm also still crushing on Gilby Clarke again since I saw him on Rockstar Super Nova a few years back. ☺(sorry there's so big - the size down seemed so tiny :/)

Hope y'all are having a good weekend.

Depression and Sweet Story Recs

Fall has always been a hard time of year for me. There's never been a rhyme or reason as to why and believe me when I say, it's been researched and queried over and over. I have clinical depression - I'm not afraid to say it and I don't care who knows it - and there are two times of year that sink me lower than others: Fall (namely end of August to end of October) and the months of January and February (my birthday month lol). Strange timing and I'm thankful for the couple months between fall and January to sort of regroup

Zathyn Priest, The Scarlet Letter & a giveaway

I'm thrilled to have the fabulous Zathyn Priest on my blog today. He's here to talk about the online magazine he established not so long ago, The Scarlet Letter. So let's get started. (PS click the pic for the link to The Scarlet Letter)

Welcome Zathyn. Thanks for humoring me and letting me interview you (again). J First of all how are you? How was your summer? Or was it winter in Australia?

Our winter has just finished and going into spring now.  I despise summer so the longer that takes to get here the better as far as I’m concerned.

A new release, some news, trees and waterfalls

I'm a bad, bad, bad author. Didn't even do a post for my release day so let's pretend it's yesterday, shall we? Happy Release Day to meee! Domestic Relations is live and ready for take-off. You can grab it at Less Than Three Press.

I hope you like reading about Riley and Josh and their "little' issues as much as I enjoyed writing it. It was actually supposed to be a short story to begin with and as usual, it grew but this time into novel proportions, and yes, it will be available in print as well. My second print book - very exciting! Now I'll have two books to sign at GRL should anyone want to 1 - buy them and 2 - want me to sign them. :)

"Life has thrown a lot at Riley, most of it bad. But Riley is nothing if not stubborn, and though it left scars, he's managed to break free of the worst of his life. Not all his problems are gone, but life is certainly better than it's ever been. Most of that is due to his boyfriend, Josh, the best thing that life has given him, and Riley will do anything to keep hold of him.

Six Sentence - Sunday - at the movies

So I'm changing things up after this post. I usually do Sunday at the movies but them sometimes Six Sentence Sunday so now I'll start Saturday at the movies and Six Sentence Sunday - but not until after  this post. This one will obviously include both.

As for my posting pictures dilemma - that still hasn't sorted itself out in my head. There are just so many opinions from both sides that I don't know what my best course of action is yet. I've left my blog as is since this whole thing rolled in but I haven't really added too many more pics and I hate that fact. Pretty pics are the way to get someone to actually read your blog - at least that seems to be the way it is. I'll be doing some posts of my trip to Europe and to Vancouver Pride -whenever I get motivated enough to upload them from my camera. (I know it's an easy task - *sighs*)

Talk of swag, stock photos & other babble...

I still haven't deleted all the pics on my blog. *sighs* Still not sure what I'm doing about that. It's mostly my main page that will be a bummer. I know I can still use Nicu
