Sunday at the movies

The Birdcage (1996) starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Diane Wiest, Gene Hackman, Dan Futterman and oh-my-god-I-love Hank Azaria. ~~ I can't count the number of times I've watched this movie. It's one of those that will come on TV and I'll sit and have to watch even though I have it on DVD too. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane play off each other so awesomely and as cheesy as some people think it is, this movie rocks. Even though I love the main characters and their son (Dan Futterman), Hank Azaria as Agador (Spartacus) just made me wet myself. There are so many unforgettable lines in this movie and it will cheer you up when you really need it.

Boy Culture (2006) starring Derek Mayer, Darryl Stevens (Noah's Arc), Jonathon Trent ~~ all relatively unknown actors in a sometimes very intense film. X is a highly paid male escort but still lives with his roommates Andrew and Joey. This film has a little different feel because X narrates it all the way through. It took me a while to get used to it but it's a fabulous story of gay men trying to find their way with each other and out in the world. The actors are all hot and the chemistry is over-the-top sexy but because of the escorting scenario, it might not be a film for everyone. In my book, it's a great flick.

The Trip (2002) - Larry Sullivan, Steve Braun ~~ unknowns again who pull off awesome performances. Gay politician plus gay rights activist equals drama, humour, regret and love. This film spans quite a few years and will make you smile as well as break your heart. I love both characters - most of the time :D
 - and together they are so sweet.  I don't want to give anything away but **definite warning of tears**.
