K-lee's May update & pretties

I've been so negligent in updating this...in updating anything really. I know I don't have a lot of followers, but the few I do have deserve better than these random posts that can run anywhere from incoherent babble to depressing-as-hell thoughts. Even if I just post pretty pics, it would be better than dead air, right?  :) 

Moving on - the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia is almost upon us - 2 days to be exact or 1 depending where you are. I'll be doing at least 3 posts during that time and I have some special guests that I hope you'll drop by to say hi to - three very special and lovely men to be exact. But seriously, these guys have some very inspirational and thought-provoking things to say. And be sure to check out the other  >170 participants, too. Hey, you've got 10 days to do it this year. Hop on, people.  :)

K-lee Update & some dwarves, of course

I swear I've been writing, but obviously I've not been blogging. And just so you know, that saying over there <---- is so damn true. I've tried to explain it to a couple people before, people who don't write, and they just didn't get it. It's a hard thing to explain really. 

But I swear I always have a character talking in my head or a scene playing out for no damn reason. I've talked to other writers about it and it's a relief to know it's not just me and my strange brain. 

Insomnia, a review, random news & music

Not sleeping more than 3 or 4 hrs a night (with sleeping pills) is taking its toll but I'm pressing on to stay productive. I've been dealing with sleep issues for 10 years so it's really nothing new, just a little worse than usual right now. Recently I've been trying to set a goal every day since that at least makes me feel productive. My goal for today is to get to 60k on my cowboys - 2300 written so far and 300 to go and Christian Kane's drawling away on iTunes, offering his usual inspiration. ;)

In the good news department, I received a really awesome 5/5 star review for Domestic Relations a couple weeks ago that I thought I'd share. DR hasn't gotten many reviews yet so this one made my day. :) And I swear I don't often post the entire review but today, I'm going to make an exception because it makes me smile and sleepy smiles are always a good thing.

Blog Update Fail, Christian Kane & an excerpt

<--- Yeah, what he said? Can't believe it's almost a month since I've updated but it seems like the longer I leave it the bigger the issue of updating gets in my head. It ends up being this really overwhelming thing that it totally shouldn't be. It's just an issue I have that I obviously need to work on.

*takes deep breath* Okay. Hey! How you doing? I'm back and hopefully will stay that way. Actually I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of action on this blog once December rolls around since I have something up my proverbial sleeve. But I won't share that just yet.

Six Sentence - Sunday - at the movies

So I'm changing things up after this post. I usually do Sunday at the movies but them sometimes Six Sentence Sunday so now I'll start Saturday at the movies and Six Sentence Sunday - but not until after  this post. This one will obviously include both.

As for my posting pictures dilemma - that still hasn't sorted itself out in my head. There are just so many opinions from both sides that I don't know what my best course of action is yet. I've left my blog as is since this whole thing rolled in but I haven't really added too many more pics and I hate that fact. Pretty pics are the way to get someone to actually read your blog - at least that seems to be the way it is. I'll be doing some posts of my trip to Europe and to Vancouver Pride -whenever I get motivated enough to upload them from my camera. (I know it's an easy task - *sighs*)

I still haven't deleted all the pics on my blog. *sighs* Still not sure what I'm doing about that. It's mostly my main page that will be a bummer. I know I can still use Nicu

I definitely have a few WIPs that need to be whipped into shape and I love that little pic. :)

Progress update:

Olympic Football: I finished and subbed my Olympic football story - it came out at 8000 words just between the 5 and 10k parameters. I think it's a sweet story and it shows I may have even learned something during all my Euro Cup watching because I actually used some football words. :) I think I'll hear next week whether it will be accepted for the anthology.

Happy Canada Day, eh...website update, blurbs & football

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canuckuckleheads and those who love us! I should be out celebrating but being a self-proclaimed most-of-the-time hermit, I am not.

My Canada Day will be spent watching the Euros 2012 final between Spain and Italy. Yes, I am addicted to this tournament - I even watched every game (at least partially) on my cruise. And speaking of my cruise - yes, I am due a blog post about it. The motivation just has not hit yet.

I'm back, books are out and 777 challenge :)

Greetings! I've missed you people. Hopefully I remember how to post again. :) I'm still jet lagged and on some weird half-Canadian-half-Eurpoean sleep schedule but I want to start stepping back into RL again.


Both my new releases are live - Yays! Countdown to Daddies has gotten some great stars and reviews and hopefully once a few people read Lucius' Bite I'll get those, too. Can only hope people like what you write, right? I think that's natural. The sequel to Lucius is already floating in bits and pieces in my head, just need to find some time to put them on the page.


I'm going to do a post on my trip - probably a couple of them since I feel so ADHD at the moment and my focus is worth crap. Hope you don't mind if I put up a couple buyers' links for my books - here they are:

Bon Voyage - keep in touch

I leave Tuesday for my cruise - we fly to London then bus it to Southampton and the ship leaves Wednesday. Twelve days exploring Northern Europe - Ireland, Scotland mostly, with a stop in Guernsey (don't they have cows there?), Liverpool and Paris. We have three nights in London after to explore as well.

I'm still one-crutching it - annoying but although my MCL and hamstrings are much better, my bursitis is coming back. I can't get another steroid shot until I get back so the pain is definitely more than it was even two weeks ago. I'll survive - rest when I have to, ice it and be careful (have I told you I'm a klutz?) Besides being crutch-challenged, I'm also going to be internet-challenged while I'm gone. I'm hoping to check up on email a few times at least but on the ship it costs an arm and a leg, of which I already only have one good one.

Wow, an actual update

I must repeat "Wow". It's been just over a month since I was here and I'm not sure I actually remember how to blog now at all. But I'll give it a try.

My New York trip went well, if not more than a little annoying on crutches. Even taxis are frustrating with crutches - they want you in and out as fast as possible and some of those backseats have zilch in the way of legroom. I have to give huge kudos to my bff Piper Vaughn for putting up with having to haul me around New York and for being an awesome roomie. :)

I was worried about the whole airport situation - having to haul my *ahem* huge bag around with me but ended up being carted in a wheelchair through the entire airport both times. It was embarrassing but necessary I guess. The weather was good and the hotels we stayed in were both good, too - each having its own pluses and minuses. We did some sightseeing on the top of a Hop On Hop Off bus - after being shuffled to the very front of the line because *ahem* I was the Chosen one. Lol. The bad part of the bus was the guide and his annoying little earbud commentary but I won't get into that. We walked a fair bit that day too and I have to say I was a trooper considering it was hot and my right leg was screaming at me to just stop and sit down.

Some highlights - the Rainbow Book Fair was interesting though the table Piper and I were in charge of (for Less Than Three Press) was not in the section where we got the m/m traffic. We still talked to a few people, sold a few books and got to meet some of the other authors. Amy Lane is a sweetheart and gives great hugs and squees. Christopher Koehler is taller than the damn Empire State Building - well, okay, he's just really tall. Gosh, it's been so long I can't remember who else was there. Damon Suede did the manly thing and packed all of our boxes to the curb then became Superman when he jumped in front of a taxi and told him exactly what he had to do.

That's one thing Piper and I were not so good at in New York, hailing taxis... and knowing where we were. Lol. Also, got to meet K. Piet who is an absolute sweetheart. Also present but I'd met before were: Rowan Speedwell, J.P. Barnaby, Ellis Carrington, Rachel Haimowitz, J.M. Snyder (never met before actually) and I know I'm missing a bunch.


Central Park Carriage Ride We had the cutest Irishman show us around Central Park on his lovely horse and carriage. I could have listened to his accent all night and when he took out his cropped and whipped the bad taxi-cab - let's just say parts of my body came to attention. Lol. Just ask Piper.

Broadway! We saw the most fabulous show EVER! If you go to New York and want drama, comedy, fabulous dancing, singing, smiling, and hot men in dresses doing all those things, you have to go to

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT.

It was so damn good and interactive and funny and sad and anything else you want in a show. 1/4 the way through I just wanted to go again. The stand-out for me was the multi-talently and totally gorgeous Nick Adams. He will have his post soon. He sang, he danced, he had perfect comedic timing, his smile could launch a thousand ships and he was so ripped and hot I wanted to stick bills in his pants. Hot damn.

Finally meeting a friend in person. One of the most exciting highlights for me was meeting someone I'd become close to online, someone who has nothing to do with my writer side, just my friend side. I was nervous as all hell - crutched my way up God knows how many metal stairs just to want to turn around and go right back down again because my nerves were screaming at me. I didn't and it went well. He was everything I thought he was and more.

I got to spend my last day with him, crutching around Soho and I don't know where else. He showed me his fave stores and I bought a few things for my kids including this adorable freeze-dried bat for my baby boy. It seriously is. They all had different looks on their faces so we had to pick one out. This one looks a little diabolical and we liked his face. :)

Overall it was a very good trip and I was exhausted when I got home. Don't let anyone tell you that crutches are easy to walk around New York with, they're a total pain in the ass. My knee continued to get worse again when I was gone, too much use obviously.

Yesterday I got a steroid shot in the anserine bursa of my knee. Holy mother of something, it hurt like hell. My mom gets cortisone shots in her knee for arthritis but they put them right in the joint. With a bursa shot they have to find the exact spot where the pain is the worst so it took a lot of freaking pain to even get to the part where they put the needle in. It swelled up even more last night but today it's settled down a little. I'm trying to keep positive that it will help and I'll be able to take a chainsaw to those crutches soon but even the doctor wasn't all that sure if it would work. I need to be walking at least semi-normally by the beginning of June for the Northern European cruise the hubby and I are taking. *keeps fingers crossed*

Writing After what seemed like forever of revising and editing and reading through it again and again and again and humming and hahing and being nervous, I finally finished and sent Lucius' Bite off to be considered for publication. I procrastinated so long on doing it and now that it's gone, I feel like a weight has lifted. I really love the story and there are already sequels floating around in my head. I also finished a story for the Love Is Always Write challenge on GoodReads. It's called Lazy Sundays and I think it's pretty sweet. The pic I was given for inspiration is posted on the right side of this blog.

My next project is to get my Father's Day story finished by May 1, as well as my lawyer story that is drowning in dust. And wouldn't you know it, Less Than Three posted an anthology call for - are you ready - ROCKSTARS! My favourite subject. I have to get these other two finished first though, plus I have Glitter Fox 2, and Home on the Ranch 2  sitting on the back-burner steaming away.

In other news, I started a Tumblr. It's mostly hot shirtless men, gay couples kissing and snuggling, and more hot men so if anyone's interested in that kind of thing, here's the link.

K-lee's update and pimpage post

January and February are two of the toughest months of the year for me. My depression seems to enjoy coming out to play during this time and last year these two fabulous months led to a few months in hospital. 

Skip to this year - I'm nowhere near how I was as one year ago & I have some good things happening and going on. I just need to lie a little low, find some patience for myself and ask for and allow some extra support from my friends. I guess I'm needy right now, a state I do not enjoy being in. So if you'll all bear with me, I'd appreciate it.

Ack! Late as usual but I hope you all had a rockin' New Year's Eve. I went to a games night but had to come home at 10:30 due to a migraine so my Eve was not so much rockin' as reelin'.

I meant to do this post before the new year so I could do some resolutions or more accurately some goal-planning for 2012. First I'll get some other business out of the way.

I'm thrilled to say that I've had a few good reviews for Finally Home and even though I'm trying really hard to not let any of the reviews affect me in a good or bad way, it's still always nice to see. It's available at MLR Press, All Romance Ebooks, and Amazon now, and I might be planning a Valentine's story as a sequel. *whispers - shhhh*

Blog page update and help needed...

I'm having a drowsy day, again. Haven't heard back from the doctor about my blood tests or sleep test - guess I'll have to make an appointment. Don't think I'd mind so much if it was a little tiredness but it's like this overwhelming fatigue that makes it so I can't do a damn thing.

Writing wasn't working so I decided to upgrade my blog a little - between naps just like the kitty said. Didn't do much but added an extra column and put the word counts of my WIPs with the inspirational character pics to go with them. I kind of like how it looks except my header which really needs to be centred but I have no idea how to do that. Would really love some advice on it since my OCD really hates the way it looks right now. Also seriously considering paying someone to set up my website. I have a domain name and a site on HostBig! that is just going to waste right now. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know.
