New cover, LHNB story link & give-away!

My Love Has No Boundaries story, Las Palabras de Amor, has been posted in the GoodReads M/M Romance group. Here's the blurb:

"I want you to meet my son…Lucas."

Only eight little words—but with so much impact. Two years ago, Lucas joined the Peace Corps so he'd never have to hear those words. He left so Danilo would be free to start the next phase of his life, and so Lucas could find a fresh perspective on his own.

But now that he's back in town, ready to kick-start his new life, will those eight simple words send Lucas reeling back into the past or smiling hopefully into the future?

It's a free read and you can read it on the group itself or download it in various formats.

And I'm very happy to finally be able to share the cover for Ali's Intuition - the second book in my Family of Misfits. Release date is September 20 from MLR Press.

I'm hoping to have another post up tomorrow with the links for my book tour for Unbreak My Heart. I'll be making ten stops, plus one on here as well. A give-away is already going on at Stumbling Over Chaos. Go take a look. :)  Unbreak My Heart Give-away

Freaky Friday - more like just bits and pieces of stuff

It's always nice to start off a Friday with a good pair of legs and a package, right? So happy Friday. This will be my happy post, as opposed to yesterday's which wasn't necessarily an unhappy post but more of a meh-serious one.

Today in the world of K-lee you will find horrifying pics (of me) because they are nice memories I need right now, the beautiful band members of 30 Seconds to Mars, a video I love and the answer to yesterday's question - what song did this lyric come from: "look in my eyes... this is who I really am".

There will also be a new book release date, new cover (standard V-day cover for MLR unfortunately) and a hot new video just out today. So grab your coffee and settle back for a wild ride.

(Now seriously, you can ignore all that crap up there, it sounded good at the time but I will have those things down there - enjoy and comment at your will)

Okay since I know you're all dying—yes, dying—to know what lyric that is, I'm posting the video which is very cool if you haven't seen it before and yes, those legs and package up there ^^ are the same legs as in the video. This song is my go-to song for pacing and general anxiety and panic attacks, and if my family hears it being played on repeat, they automatically know K-lee's having a bad day. So here ya - it's long but fabulous. (and yes, it is a take-off of a very well-known movie)

New group and a stunning transition...

That's what I want right there -->
No drama, no hating, no bashing and no accusations.
I'll be honest and say I like groups. I like to feel a part of things and I like to lurk and participate. Groups can make you feel like you're part of something bigger, like you're not alone and flailing out in the interwebz by yourself. I haven't felt that way for a while but I've taken a first step and joined another group.

At the beginning of anything new, there's no way of knowing whether things will be good or bad, will remain calm and welcoming, will stay drama-free but I'm taking the chance and hoping for the best. The new group is also on GoodReads and it's called Rainbow Writers and Readers. It was started by Aleks Voinov as a kind of anti-hate haven. Here's the rules - "this place will be moderated and all kinds of GLBTQQ-phobic or harassing comments will be deleted." Sounds good to me - guess we'll see what happens.

I also want to post about this amazing FTM transition that is old news probably, but something I just discovered. The man's name is Balian Buschbaum and before his transition he was an Olympic-calibre German pole vaulter named Yvonne Buschbaum. He retired because of injury in 2007 and then transitioned after that. He's gorgeous and as far as I'm concerned, amazing.

I haz a cover! And I'm graduating from Mom school...

Well maybe a "happee" is a little over-zealous but I was a little on the excited side yesterday when my editor (who is fabulous by the way) sent me the cover for my Christmas story. I know it's the same cover everyone else will have for the Christmas series but just seeing it with my name, the story name and even the series name, brought a bit of a tear to my eye. (everyone already knows I'm a mush head right?)

Anyhow, I got to add it to GoodReads and to my author page and then I just sat and looked at it for a while. *snickers* I know I have my "Outfoxed" cover as well (thank you Zath) but this is the first cover that means I've accomplished something I set out to do. Did I mention that one of my goals - one of the only ones actually - that I set last time in the hospital was to get something published in 2011? Never thought it was actually happen but December 27 is definitely in 2011 so that totally counts. :)  I already have my YA story for 2012 so that's a good start, too. Hopefully more will follow but if not, I'll just be eternally grateful that "Finally Home" found a "home" with MLR.

FINALLY HOME - available December 27 at MLR Press

When his father's funeral brings Josiah Nelson back to his childhood home during the Christmas holidays, he's determined to sell the ranch and bury his past. But after his old friend, Wyatt Aames, rekindles a fire in Josiah's lonely soul, he realizes that home isn't the house you grew up in, it's where your heart belongs.

In other news, my youngest turns 19 tomorrow. Nineteen years ago today (a Thursday), I was saying there was no way in hell I was having a baby on Friday the 13th and that's exactly what I did. But he's been nothing but a joy to me so I guess it turned out okay. It's a little harsh when you realize your last baby is in his teens now and wonder what will become of the person you've been for 24 years - Mom. Guess I'll have to figure that out. :)

Acceptance of my YA story

I met a new friend at the Gay Romance Literature retreat and he offered to take a look at my Young Adult short story because he's young himself and I'm well... older. :)  He's also the new editor at Featherweight Publishing which is a part of MLR Press that publishes children's and young adult titles.

The story is the one based on the following picture and was written for the Gay-Straight Alliance group's "Traveling to Better Project" on GoodReads.

It's only 5,000 words but I struggled big time with it, more than likely because it's a whole different way of writing. I think it ended up being pretty sweet and yesterday I got an email from Featherweight saying it had been accepted and sending me a contract. I won't get any royalties from this story and neither will Featherweight, as you can see in the explanation below, all the proceeds will go to a charity of my choice. I think that's a pretty cool thing and it still gets my name out there as a published author.  I'm not sure when it's coming out yet but please consider giving it a go when it does - it is for charity after all. :)

--Featherweight Press is currently seeking submissions for their upcoming Helping Hands line of stories. The Helping Hands stories focus on GLBT characters and issues. The author and editor royalties from all stories in the Helping Hands line will be donated to a charity dedicated to helping GLBT youth that the author chooses.--

In other news, I just finished the line edits for Finally Home and I think the next step is galleys - don't ask me what that is though. Guess I'll find out. Did I mention it comes out on December 27. Lol - I'm sure I'll mention it again.  I also have 8000 words on my NaNoWriMo, largely due to something we do on twitter called Word Wars. It's a great source of creativity and yeah, competition too. As long as I keep up my pace, I should be okay.

Enjoy your weekend, friends. And please leave me a comment so I'm not so lonely over here in the blog world. (I'm not begging yet but...)

Teaser for Hot July Days on GoodReads

As I mentioned before, the organizers of the M/M Romance group at GoodReads.com put together a challenge for authors and aspiring authors to write stories for other members based on a pic and a "Dear Author" letter.  Stories started being posted on July 1 - a few a day in most cases - and I believe there will be 113 (or so) stories in total.  As long as you're over the age of 18, you can be a member of the group and there really couldn't be a better time to join with all those yummy stories being posted.

I'm giving a small taste/tease of the story I wrote and, yeah, even managed to submit on time despite wanting to keep editing and changing over and over again.  I had to force my OCD to take a step back.  :)  Anyhow, hope you enjoy and if you have the time, leave me a comment since I'm feeling pretty lonely on this blog. :D

Happy 4th to all my US friends, by the way.

Outfoxed

Two pairs of scuffed, black combat boots hit the floor of the hotel room with four distinct thuds before the door locked back into place.  Tight, sweltering, black leather pants were shed, left in a ball on the floor beside the boots, abandoned in the heat emanating from two excited, lust-filled bodies.  They jockeyed for dominance, both already bare-chested and shining with sweat, hair, faces and sleek, muscled bodies nearly identical except for the color and shade of their short spiky locks and the scruff that accentuated their made-up but masculine faces.  The blond won the toss-up, pushing the brunet roughly against the velvet-papered wall, his mouth covering the soft lips of the other, tongue shoving immediately inside.

Rylan Rivers growled between gasps of breath, thrusting back against the toned body that pressed him to the cool wall.  “It’s not your turn,” he panted and hissed at his blond lover.  “Back up, Gage.  I’m taking control.”

Gage Galeano flattened Rylan more firmly to the wall, head slanting to seal his lips over Rylan’s protesting ones.  He wrestled Rylan’s arms up and over his head, keeping a firm grip on both wrists as he slipped a leg between Rylan’s thighs and pressed his knee against Rylan’s crotch.

Rylan gasped and stopped squirming long enough to suck Gage’s tongue between his lips, forcing their mouths together until he felt their teeth click.  He sucked indulgently, Gage’s flavor overwhelming his senses and sending a jolt of excitement straight to his cock.  He enjoyed the sensation, the taste, the heat, for a moment more, then sunk his teeth into the wet muscle invading his mouth.  The metallic taste of blood assaulted his tastebuds before Gage jumped back sharply, brown eyes so heavy with lust they were almost black, a sadistic grin gracing his beautiful face.

“Since when are turns part of sex?” Gage hissed, sinking one hand into Rylan’s brown spikes and yanking his head back.  His other hand moved to swipe at his mouth, a red streak appearing on his pale skin.  Rylan watched transfixed as Gage licked the color away.  Gage’s tongue was a thing of wonder, always knowing precisely where to lap and lick and suck, when to press harder, when to back off, the right moment to….

Rylan snapped his gaping mouth closed, wiping a dribble of drool away from his lips as he twisted his head from Gage’s grasp and tried to clear his head.  He managed a controlled smirk and pushed off the wall.  “I told you, you were out of line,” he growled, adjusting the uncomfortable bulge in his faux gold-lame boxer briefs.  “You have the shortest memory in the history of the world, dude.  Tonight I’m the man on top, not you.”

His words were strong but that didn’t change the fact he was hypo-aware of the sweet, addicting scent of sweat and desire wafting off his lover -- Gage’s zest still alive in his mouth, on his tongue.  He was already rock hard.  So hard he had to struggle to keep his hands to himself, needing to focus on what he wanted to convey to Gage, not how he looked, smelled, tasted.  He thought he’d won the battle until Gage suddenly thrust himself forward, grabbed Rylan’s face between his fingers and licked across his lips.  One of Gage’s hands ghosted down Rylan’s body and over the outline of his aching dick, sending shivers of ecstasy throughout Rylan’s taut body.

“Mmm, you’re wearing my favorite shorts, babe, but I think they’d look better off than on.”

Rylan growled again, covered Gage’s hand and squeezed his fingers.  He shoved him not-so-gently away, backing up from the heat and scent of pre-come that surrounded from his lover.  “You’re not listening, dumbass.”

Gage snickered evilly.  “I’m totally listening.  You wanna be the husband.”
